Mother Natures March tricks
Placeholder Image

Mother Nature has pulled March tricks out of her weather bag. It is cold weather! Even though the forsythia and dogwood are blooming.
These shrubs and flowers around indicate that Easter is near. Even the Bradford pears have bloomed back after that last heavy frost. Hope our Easter bonnets won't get snowed on.
Happy birthday to the lower half of March birthday persons: Allen Mitchell, Barry Miller, Jeanette France, Wesley Carpenter, Drew Tatum, Julia Little, Meredith Little, Nola Sonner, Reeves Beller, Tammy Judkins, Laura Chandler,Eli Oliver and Rev. Donald Owens.
Hope everyone is still watching the Bible series, History Channel, on Sunday evening. Parts of it are pretty gruesome, especially in the Old Testament. Next Sunday evening is the conclusion.  I want to especially see the focus on Revelation.
Does anyone know what a Tennessee truffle is? I could have bet that it is something sweet to eat.  Wrong! It is a potent wild ramp, a popular state vegetable.  The town of Cosby, in East Tennessee, hosts a Truffle Festival to celebrate the growth of truffles every year. Not sure of the date. I bet your grandparents would know about truffles.
I have two major goals this week. One is to spring clean every room in my house and second, to complete my IRS info and take to my CPA.  This is the best time for my goals since the schools are on spring break. Headstart only gets off Good Friday.
Speaking of Holy Week, the folk at First Methodist are having guest speakers along with lunch, Monday-Wednesday this week. There will be a Maundy Thursday service on Thursday at 7 p.m. Then there will be a Good Friday Tenebrae service on Friday at 7 p.m. The public is invited.  I'm sure there are other churches observing Holy week services and activities.
Did you know that Easter is the oldest festival celebrated by the Christian church? Some early churches celebrate Easter on the 14th of Nissan (March-April) every year.  Easter comes early this year so it may be a cool one.
Anyway, Happy Easter to all however you celebrate it and a happy Spring break to all the school teachers and children.  Amen.
