Glad to see Christie Alexandria back on the mail route after being out a week with sickness.
Mabel Pack got a call from her cousin Myrtle Heers from Australia. Wishing her a happy birthday. She was proud of her cards and calls on her birthday.
All this bad weather we’ve had has been so hard to get through. But I remember a lot worse time, and school did not get out for the ice or snow. I walked to school most of the time. When I got to school my feet were cold and wet. I would get by the stove and get warm. So many fond memories. Times go by so fast.
Saturday it was so cold my central heat went out. My good neighbor Richard Close came and got it fixed up, which I appreciate so much. Thanks again, Richard.
McKalah Ferrell spent Saturday night and Sunday with Sarah and Andie Malone.
Sympathy to Wanda Wallace in the passing of her husband, Randy Wallace.
Sue Arnold visited Donald and Barbara Lawson and Betty Wilson on Tuesday evening.
Ralph Vaughn visited Smithville’s Ben Herman at the Alvin C. York VA Hospital in Murfreesboro. According to Ralph, Ben has become popular among the hospital staff, as he shares his weekly article in the Smithville Review "Being Ben."
During the time Ralph was there, Ben showed him several story ideas that he is working on. Everyone who knows Ben will remember that he is a good storyteller, and likes to talk. Because of his throat surgery, Ben can’t talk but writes when visitors are there. The hospital allows him to use a typewriter to put his newspaper articles on paper.
Please continue to pray for Ben as he writes his articles. Also pray that the Lord will encourage Ben to keep his sunny attitude.
Ralph also said that the book signing with Tommy Jett (Reynolds) has been rescheduled at Webb’s Pharmacy and Gifts in Smithville. It will now be held on March 13 from 2-6 p.m. The book is about the life of Tommy, the famous radio personality, who was born in DeKalb County to the late Jim Grady and Annie Nixon Reynolds.
Tommy is looking forward to seeing family and friends as he autographs the book "The Jett Age: Flying with Tommy Jett."
Most folks will remember Hobson Reynolds, a brother to Tommy. Hobson was DeKalb County Circuit Court Clerk for many years and was the father of Suzanne Williams who is now over the Chamber of Commerce
