Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Elsie Hendrixson. She was 100 years old and a fine Christian woman. I’ve known her all of my life.
Also sympathy goes to Charlene Blew’s family in her passing. I talked to her a few days ago. She passed away unexpectly.
Get-well wishes are sent to Billy Sutton. He is a patient in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Jerry and Linda Snow of Nashville visited Martha Snow recently.
I’ve written before about the kinds of mail that come to my home.  I’m sure it is the same with all my readers.  Ruth Sutton, one of my friends and telephone buddies, and I laugh about the mail we get announcing that we have either won a car, qualified for a special, low-interest credit card or something else.
First, neither Ruth nor I drive and certainly don’t have driver’s licenses. Why would I be eligible for winning a new car?  I will admit that several years ago, I drove our pickup truck in the pasture to put out hay for our cattle, but I was not brave enough to drive on a regular road.
Ruth and I also laugh because we have never owned a credit card. How would a company know that we were even interested in applying for one?
Then, the other day I received a letter from President Obama telling me how important I am to the country with my vote and financial support of his campaign.  He wrote to explain the challenges facing America right now and what efforts must be taken to keep us moving forward.
He also wrote in the letter that my thoughts are important and that my involvement is critical to America’s future. I wonder how he got my name or knows how I vote.
