Happy belated birthday wishes to my great-grandson Drake Vaughn, celebrated Feb.16.
After being retired for a year, my son, Ralph, has gone back to work. He agreed to be the president of the Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce, which is located in Nashville. The organization was started about six years ago, and has grown to over 300 businesses through its volunteers. The board of directors decided it was time to hire a full-time person to lead the chamber.
I had thought that Ralph would stay retired, but he said that because it is based on the Christian faith, he was impressed to take the job.
One of the major supporters of the Christian Chamber of Commerce is Salem Media, a large company that has 100 radio stations across the country that program Christian entertainment. The company also prints and publishes major Christian magazines.
Ralph says that in addition to being a Tennessee organization, the leaders want to establish other Christian chambers of commerce throughout the country.
My readers will remember that Ralph was the president of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce in Murfreesboro for nearly 12 years, and was over the Madison-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce near Atlanta, Georgia for three-years before returning to Tennessee.
He and his wife June now live in Murfreesboro. She is the former librarian at Justin Potter Library in Smithville.
