My son, Ralph, told me that the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame held its annual induction ceremony last Saturday night at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Murfreesboro with over 300 attending.
Ralph said that well-known Smithville native, Tommy Jett (Reynolds) from Chattanooga was there. He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame last year.
Steve Quick from Smithville was also seen in the audience. Steve, along with Chris Tramel and Reed Vanderpool, have a regular program on WJLE each week.
Ralph and a group of volunteers began the Hall of Fame in March of 2011 to recognize the importance of radio stations in Tennessee and the people who have served the different communities throughout the state.
Near the end of the program Saturday night, Ralph was surprised by being recognized for his service as the outgoing president. His term ends in June.
