I hope everyone had a good Easter Sunday, and went to church.
I miss church since I am not able to go. I was told New Home Baptist Church had a good service. Bro. Lewis Carrick brought the message. He is interim pastor.
Billy and Mary Jane Hooper and Sue Cook were guests of Johnnie Ruth Hunt and Grace Cook. They went to Baxter Thurday night to hear the McKamy’s sing in the school house.
Rebecca Ervin had  her family for lunch Easter Sunday.
Tim and Ronda Young were guests of Sue Arnold for lunch Easter Sunday. Other visitors were Barbara Lawson and Adam and Dawn Lawson.
Visitors of Betty Wilson were Ralph and June Vaughn, Faye Adkins, JoAnn Pittman, Rebecca Ervin, and Brandon Rackley.
Faye Adkins was guest of Artie, Regena and Nicklas Daw for dinner Sunday.
Lou Autry Malone had 25 guests for dinner on Easter Sunday. The children played in the evening and had an egg hunt.

Guest of Billie Simpson on Saturday were Anita and Chloie Braswell, Dallas and Beth, Thomas and Michael Braswell, Shane and Michelle Walker, Kelly Walker and Evan Cripps, Austin and Stacie Wood and Adam, Boss and Katlin. They all had an egg hunt after lunch and had a good time.
Easter drama was held at the New Life Pentacostal Church Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday morning and night. There was a large crowd that attended, it was enjoyed as much.
The beautiful spring weather got me to thinking this week about picking strawberries.
Back in the 1950s, we took our berries to Conger’s warehouse in Smithville on East Main Street at the bottom of the large hill.
Picking strawberries was back-breaking from all of the stooping, bending and having to get on my knees and scooting along the rows.
I remember that a day’s work was really a day’s work, but all of that hard work had a reward.
Of course we earned a living by sharecropping with Herbert Vickers, knowing that those berries would be turned into cash at the end of the day.
Most days, Ralph and I would ride with his daddy to deliver the berries, because we would get to stop at the Sunrise Grill and get a special treat of soft-serve ice cream.  We tried to make it last as long as possible.
Once we were back home, then J.D. and Ralph headed to the barn to milk our cows while I did work around the house and cooked supper. The day was far from being over.
As I sit here thinking about those days, the memories will always be precious to me.
