New Home News - Fall is cooler than summer
Smithville Local Columnist.png

Rain seems to be in the forecast for a while. Please continue to remember the families affected by hurricane Florence. Hillary Cantrell Gould and her children have made it back home to Buford, N.C. safely. Her home does have some damaged but is fixable. We have flooding in all parts of DeKalb County. Please remember not to cross a road with flowing water it is dangerous. This weather is sure to put a damper on the football games.

October is here and fall is in the air. I enjoy the cooler temperatures, almost time for the hoodies and the boots. Griffin’s Fruit Stand has a fine selection of fall mums, pumpkins all different shapes and colors, fresh apples and sweet potatoes.

I know of two pumpkins patches nearby and have been to both of them. Cedar Wood Farm, pumpkin patch is located in McMinnville, and Amazin’Acres is located in Sparta. Just google them and see which one you would like to attend. Both are nice places for children to visit and pick out their favorite pumpkin.

Hayden and Katie Ervin enjoyed a few days in Gatlinburg over the past weekend. I enjoy going on vacation but I seem to always be ready to come back home. I am very peaceful at home. I enjoy being with family and friends. I really enjoy cooking for my family. I’m not much on baking; I leave that to my daughter, Lindsy and my daughter-in-law, Katie. Always take time to enjoy family and friends.

Please remember the following in prayer: Linda Kilgore Armour family, the Doyle Smith family, Kenneth and Lucy Young, Kimberly Violet, Joe Young, Brenda Bates, Gordon Rackley.
