Ralph and Debby’s one-year wedding anniversary will be Nov. 21. They are the owners of Short Mountain Market. If you were not at their wedding last year, held at their store, you really missed out on a fun time.
When I arrived, I was a little bit late, but had my camouflage pullover shirt on over my jeans, as that was the theme of this wedding. I was informed by Debby, so of course, I had to go get this shirt to blend in with the way everyone else was dressed.
Yes, you are getting the picture now. This was a redneck wedding.
After Bobby “the cracker guy” Taylor walked Debby down the makeshift aisle, the preacher said a few words and asked Debby if she would take Ralph as her lawfully wedded husband.
This is where it got interesting.
Well, Ronald - and everyone knows there is only one Ronald - was standing behind me. When Debby seemed to hesitate with her answer, I turned around and looked at Ronald and he, like me and quite a few others, were held in suspense for what seemed more than a few seconds.
Then Debby came through with “I do.”
Whew, everyone sighed with relief. I really thought she was going to chicken out, but her true love for Ralph prevailed.
Loved this. I am a true romantic at heart, and love happy endings.
As Ralph and Debby were leaving the store “leaves” were thrown on them instead of rice. Personally, I think the leaves, which were still somewhat multi-colored even for late in the month of November, were in good taste. This was, after all, a redneck wedding at the mountain.
