Up here on the mountain it is so very cold this Tuesday morning, with light snow falling so beautifully and coating everything it comes in contact with.
Possibly the same two deer back up in the field behind A.J. and Brenda Neal’s place today with a blanket of snow on their backs and the same with Randy and Gail Neal’s horses that are eating at the round bales of hay that were put out for them.
So quiet and tranquil, and also such a beautiful sight for all of us that live here on Short Mountain. A paradise we treasure each day and thank the Lord for his mighty presence in our lives.
Yesterday morning the wind around here was supposed to be blowing pretty briskly at 45 mph. I thought I would put on my favorite movie “Gone With The Wind” that night as there’s usually nothing on TV that I care about watching on Monday night.
Then I had to laugh as I thought about those two chickens that are not mine outside that I may have told you about in my last column, and how they would probably be gone with the wind if the wind was going to be blowing that bad.
They are not very big chickens, maybe their a size bigger than a Banty chicken, but smaller than the Rhode Island Red chickens that my mom used to raise as I was growing up.
The only turkey I’ve seen lately around here would be me in the bathroom of a morning in the mirror. I’ve got that Phyllis Diller look with the hair up in the air, but it doesn’t take long to get the face on and the hair spray takes care of the rest.
I’m so very thankful for every morning that God has given me, and I will try to honor Him in everything I say and do in that day.
