We in the Short Mountain community extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Faye Nokes. Faye passed away at her residence on January 8, 2020. She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, L.D. Nokes and sons, Heath (Susan) Nokes, and Jason (Leann) Nokes. Faye was laid to rest Monday, January 13 in the Gunter-Grizzle cemetery. We all know that hurt we feel when a dear loved one passes away, so please keep Faye’s family in your prayers at this sad time.
Please keep in prayer: Loyce Holcomb, Tim Howes, Charlie Mai Daniel, Helen Nixon, Jeanette Smithson, and Dr. J.C. Wall.
I was saddened to hear of the passing of John Henry Thweatt, age 86, of Smithville. I can remember so many times over the years of him delivering those Tom’s products to our store here at Short Mountain. He was just one of those people that you liked right off the bat. He was always the same with that friendly smile and saying hi to you and asking how are you doing? Everyone thought so much of this man. He left quite a legacy of being good at his job but most of all it was his great disposition of treating everyone the same day in and day out that made him one of those unique individuals that you had the privilege of knowing. You, John, made your mark and set an example of how we are to conduct ourselves anywhere we are at. I think “Aubrey” called you the Tom’s guy as he thought a lot of you, too. You were certainly an exception to the rule. I’m sure others picked up on the manners and the courtesy you displayed. You served us all so well, and writing is my way of honoring you. Anyone that knew you will never forget you. Please keep John’s family in your prayers.
