News from the Mountain

Most of us have been watching the news here lately. I have to say a few things on a news story that has captivated our nation. That would be the killing of the black man in Minnesota by a policeman. There were three other officers involved that could have stopped this senseless act of murder but chose only to watch and do absolutely nothing to help this man with him pleading for his life. All four are as guilty as sin as far as I’m concerned and whatever their punishment will be it will not alleviate the pain his family is going through. This did not have to happen. These policemen have been trained to know how to act in a situation like this. On the news 92 policemen have been killed across the country this year. Have you seen protests, looting, burnings, and destruction of property going on when their lives were lost? These killings were senseless, too. Only in this simple country girl’s mind I am in a quandary wondering why the burning, the looting, and the destroying of property is in any way honoring this man as the protestors are claiming. No, in no way is he being honored. He is being dishonored and disgraced because of the stupidity of those that choose his death as an excuse to destroy whatever is in their path. They have shown their lack of any upbringing in acting uncivilized in my opinion. Protestors you are leaving for history for most of us the memory of what you did, not the memory of George Floyd. I hated what happened to this man and I’ve hated so many other deaths that have happened but never in my mind have I wanted to decide to act in such a violent manner as so many people have chosen to do. This is not the American way. A few bad apples do not destroy the barrel. You cull them out and get rid of them. If everyone acted lawless like this our country would be going to hell in a hand basket. I’m so ashamed of what I’ve seen out of so many people. Barbarism hasn’t gone out of style evidently and I would hope people would rethink on jumping on the bandwagon heading in the wrong direction. After all, you didn’t accomplish anything for the good when you broke the law. Sure your fifteen minutes of fame a lot of you got but honoring George Floyd you failed so miserably in doing. Please keep his family in prayer for the loss of their dear loved one.
