Will Pursell is a member of the DeKalb County High School graduating class who will receive their diplomas on May 14, 2021. As most graduates Pursell will begin college in the fall, but not as a freshman rather a junior.
Will began school in DeKalb County as a child and attended through fourth or fifth grade, but moved to and attended Sumner County schools due to his mother’s job as a Psychological Director. During his junior year, the family returned to DeKalb County, and he was once again enrolled into the DeKalb County School System.
Through Motlow College’s dual enrollment program, high school students like Pursell can earn college credits while still enrolled in high school. Students can take classes on a Motlow College campus, online, or even at a partner high school like DCHS.
Will participated in the college courses and received Motlow’s President’s Award in recognition of maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. He has also been inducted to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Normally Pursell would be walking the line in a Motlow commencement ceremony but this year’s event will be virtual on May 9, five days before her high school graduation on May 14.
Pursell will begin college in the fall at Tennessee Tech as a junior. His plans are to receive a degree in accounting.
Will is the son of Bryce and Kathy Pursell.
