School days “good ole school days” are right here upon us and I know the kids are jumping up and down for joy.

No, it’s probably mom and dad that are jumping up and down with glee, as they need a reprieve, don’t you imagine? I think it’s good for all of us to get a break every now and then. School being back in session spells “RELIEF” in so many wonderful ways. This I’ve heard through the grapevine from those that are in the know about such things. I have been there so I can relate to what they are saying is so true.

Lisa Patton, the weather girl on Channel 2 News, retired last week from that position. I didn’t think Lisa was old enough to retire. Sure enough found out she is 54 years old. She’s not calling it retiring as she wanted to take a break soon enough to enjoy life. I know everyone wishes her the best as she was a top notch weather person.

Got to tell you a story from years ago, when the weather was getting pretty rough around here with tornadoes and severe thunderstorms about on our doorstep. Keeping a close watch on the weather coming our way that Lisa Patton was predicting when “Aubrey” called and wanted to know if I was in the small bedroom closet (I guess he meant was I hunkered down)?

I told him I was watching Lisa and he very quickly told me to stop watching Lisa and get in the closet. Naturally, told him I would, but I was watching the radar and I could see the severe weather was going to miss me so I knew I was okay. Aubrey and his dad, John, were working in the boonies somewhere as I would call it, and were caught in one more storm with trees blocking every road in that jungle they were trying to get out of.

Luckily, they made it home safely. Anyone that runs heavy machinery like dozers and such can get caught off guard when you don’t know a bad storm is brewing. It always pays to keep abreast of the weather by keeping an eye to the sky.

Keep in prayer: the family of Floyd Young, Charlie Mai Daniel, Ruth Brown, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, and Denise Stanton.
