Some say aliens are real

An earthquake in East Tennessee registering 4.1 magnitude was felt on Saturday morning.  People in Cannon, DeKalb and Warren counties felt the tremors as did five other states.  I didn't know this had happened until I was talking to my cousin Ruth Browm.

Our weather hasn't been all that bad here lately.  On and off showers popping up here and there.  We've had one and a half inches of rain so far.

There will not be a Triple Crown winner in horse racing this year.  The owner of Sovereignty (the winner of the Kentucky Derby) has decided to skip the Preakness and run him in the Belmont Stakes.

Ran into fellow classmate Eddena Hale on Monday.  Glad that she and Harry are doing well.  Was able to chat with Med and Ruth Murphy awhile last week at the store.  They haven't changed one bit.  We've been friends for years.

Stopping by our house last week was Dusty and Kristie Johnson, Ashlee and Leah, Rick and Beverly Hubler, Ricky Gannon, Russell Taylor, Connie Cantrell, Rex Pedigo and great granddaughter "Aubrey."

Spoke with Burley on Monday evening.  I'm pretty sure I woke him up from a nap, so I didn't keep him on the phone too long.  I figure him being an old-timer he needed the extra sleep.

I noticed in the May 6th edition of the Cannon Courier another Thelma and Louise was in the Good Ole Days parade.  You can only imagine my shock.  Now we have two sets of them, but here on the mountain we are claiming Martha Parker/Thelma and Betty Barnes/Louise as the originals.

Aliens, or little green men, according to some people, are real and are among us.  Personally, I do not believe they exist, but everyone is entitled to their opinion on the matter.  I do not watch the X-files on the tube like my brother "Harold" used to watch.  The aliens are sort of like the weather.  They give you something to talk about in order to get a conversation going.

Let's keep praying for the following people:  Dusty Johnson, Mary Melton, Diane Evans, Joe Gunter, Walter and Faye Ferrell, Rose Watts, Edna Hubler (Rick Hubler's mom), Donald Ferrell. Wanda Dunham, the leaders of our country, and the families of Michael Prater, and Randall "Wormy" Parker in the loss of their dear loved ones.

Tony and Tracy Neal have returned home after spending several days in Daytona, Florida.  Tracy said they had such an enjoyable time, and they would have no problem living there.  I'm sure getting away for some leisure time was simply great, but the longing to be back home in good ole' Tennessee would lure them back.  We know (as the saying goes) there's no place like home.

It's been one of those days you know you're not at the top of your game, when you put a bowl of chili in the refrigerator to heat up but quickly realized the fridge can't do what the microwave was meant to do.  I hooked up the hosepipe but didn't hook it up correctly and gave myself a second bath for the day.  I have talked to others and they, too, have done silly things like this so I'm not in that boat by myself.  Maybe we just have too much on our mind is what I'm inclined to be thinking and are not paying enough attention to what we're doing.  Old age has nothing to do with it.  Truthfully, I'm having a hard time convincing myself of this.

New neighbors on either side of me mowing their yards today. Haven't met them yet.  I'm just hoping they will be good neighbors.

Have a great day!

Choose you this day whom ye will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.  Joshua 24:15
