The Stitch, and Share and Show Quilt Guild is holding its biennial show on May 4 and 5 in the Agricultural Building on the White County Fairgrounds, Hale Street (off Spring Street/Rt. 289) in Sparta, TN. Hours are Friday, May 4 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday May 5, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is only $5.00. Come join us for a day full of activities. See over 200 quilts, shop the vendors, enjoy an antique quilt turning, and view demonstrations. We have free parking and are handicap accessible. There will also be a food vendor on site.

Our members have been busy sewing and quilting in preparation for the show, and quilters from surrounding areas are encouraged to register their quilts as well. There is no cost to enter a quilt. The deadline for registering a quilt is April 7. Guild members were also offered a challenge to make a quilt. Come see these unique quilts and see how each member interpreted this challenge. This is our 6th show which has included a featured quilter. This year Janie Kuta is the featured quilter. Her display includes many of her early pieces to some made just for this show.

A highlight of this show is our quilt turning. Antique quilts are displayed on a bed and as the story of each quilt is told, our members will hold each quilt so the audience can view the piecing and quilting on these beauties. Great care is taken with these special treasures. Our members use gloves at all times when handling these quilts which hold so many memories for the owners.

Vendors will be displaying their fabrics, tools, kits, patterns, and offering new ideas for you to try. It’s fun to stroll their selections looking for just that right fabric to finish a project. Also during the day, the vendors will be offering free demonstrations of tools and techniques. You might see a new idea you just have to try.

We hope you’ll join us for the day. There’s so much to do. You might find just that perfect pattern or fabric. You can stroll the aisles looking at all the beautiful quilts. Take some time out and watch an antique quilt turning or learn a new technique during a demonstration. We look forward in sharing our quilts with you.
