Life moves on in this wonderful Dry Creek Valley. Summer is really upon us. Farmers are harvesting the hay with that sweet smell of fresh cut hay flowing through the hay fields.
We are sorry to report that our local resident, Mr. James Hale, is not feeling too well today. His good neighbor, Mr. Jimmy Midgett, is good to him by mowing his yard and visiting with good will and cheer for him.
Many others are good to him as well. Members of Dry Creek Baptist Church cook each Wednesday afternoon and feel blessed to take Mr. Hale his evening meal and visit with him. Another neighbor, Mrs. Georgia Hawker, has also been good to visit and bring food. Our prayers, love, and concern are for his well being and improvement.
It is wonderful to meet new people who are making our world a better place to live in. Recently, while in the hospital, I met Dr. Jack Rhody’s nurse, Melanie Garrett Nistad, who has compiled a book on “Mechanicsville.” This book contains letters that Mary Reams wrote to the Smithville Review in years gone by. We found it to be very historical and most enjoyable. This book is put together with much purpose and thought. There are many interesting pictures of my former neighbor, Mr. W.O. Womack, as a teacher at Mechanicsville with the Short Mountain School ball team. The book can be purchased by contacting Melanie Garrett Nistad.
Words cannot express how blessed we feel to have so many friends, neighbors, and church family, who have shown their care and loving kindness to us while staying in the DeKalb Community Hospital.
Thanks to those who have taken time out of their busy schedules to send cards and flowers, pay visits, call to convey get-well wishes, and for the many prayers on our behalf. A special thanks to Bro. Donald Owens, pastor of Dry Creek Baptist Church, and to the wonderful hospital staff including Dr. Jack Rhody, Dr. Kevin Rhody, Dr. Bryan and their nurses. May God bless them all.
It was good to see Ivadell Randolph, my old-time teacher and friend, who is getting over knee surgery and my Eastern Star friend, who has not been well herself, but is always thinking of others. Kind people like these build you up and encourage you to strive on.
We met our old therapist, George, from Nashville, who helped us in 2006. We also have some new therapists, who are efficient and Mr. Weeb helps us when blood has to be drawn.
So many people have been eager to help. We give thanks for these people.
Get-well wishes go to Vicky Corelly, who will have surgery, soon. Our prayers, love, and best wishes go to her, for a successful surgery.
Best wishes go to all the sick and shut-ins.
Dry Creek Baptist held it’s Vacation Bible School on Saturday.
Plans are being made for homecoming at Dry Creek Baptist, soon.
See you in church and everyone is welcome to the little light house, which has been spreading spirtual blessings in the beautiful Dry Creek Valley for over 120 years. Bro. Donald Owens’ messages will lift up your spirits. We pray for spiritual awakening.
Please remember to pray for your writer, Louise Frazier, who is in DeKalb Community Hospital for sickness and test.
Thank you for everything
Dry Creek Flashes
