The Amen Corner
Everyone is waiting for spring

Hope everyone remembered to set their clocks up an hour Sunday morning. I almost forgot, then I remembered late Saturday night. Otherwise, everyone would have been an hour late for church.

Well, we were blessed with another snow last Wednesday evening. The ice seems to be another accompaniment with our snows lately. I have talked with my friends in Crossville and they have experienced power outages. Meanwhile, Monterey residents experienced power outages along with a slick interstate highway nearby. Food was brought in at some of the churches to feed those who couldn't get out.

Guess we in the lower lands didn't have it that bad.

I understand that our state has been declared a disaster area, and our school systems affected won't have to make up the lost school days. Whoopee!

Concerning the snow, I heard my grandmother say that when a snow lays on the grounds three days, that it is waiting for another one. Hope that theory won't apply this year. Everyone is waiting for spring!

My one and only sister, Charlotte, celebrated her birthday at my house last Friday evening (March 6).

We had pizza, beverages, ice cream and a big beautiful cake saying "Happy birthday, Charlotte." Those helping her celebrate were husband Laird, son Robin and Kristie, Derek Driver and only one of his children, Taylan; a friend, Lawrence Bell and of course, myself. We did "roast" her with nice stories.

Other family members had conflicts and couldn't make it. She received some phone calls from ol' friends.

My great-great niece, Kiana Driver, enjoyed her first opportunity at a skating rink in McMinnville last

Saturday afternoon. The occasion was a friend's birthday, Cadence. This young group also enjoyed pizza, ice cream and cake there. Kiana claims that she didn't fall and soon mastered this art of roller skating.
