Ah… sweet springtime, here at last! The pink and white dogwood trees in our area are beautiful.
The First Methodist Church had a healing service last Sunday morning, led by the pastor, Dr. John Carpenter. Those who came up were anointed with oil. To coordinate the focus of the day, Dr. Will Sherwood presented the children's message and showed the children different types of medical equipment in relation to taking care of our bodies.
Many may remember a former Smithvillian, Margaret Ann Robinson. She worked as a clerk at Lou Ann's Dress Shop for many years. According to her friend, Janey Knowles. Margaret Ann died peacefully at her home in Birmingham on April 9. A service will be held there and a memorial service will be at First Baptist Church here on this coming Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be at 12:00. Ralph Vaughn will officiate.
I called my nephew, Robin Driver last Saturday and asked him why he was working. I told him that it was a national holiday, my birthday. He responded and caught my sense of humor. I did celebrate last Saturday, my 29th (ha, ha) by sleeping late (didn't have to take the kids to school, then my sweet sister, Charlotte invited me over for a big birthday breakfast plus taking me to dinner that evening with her husband. I received a ton of cards and phone calls from friends and family, here and out of town. That evening we finished the evening with cake and ice cream.
Belated birthday wishes to Kathy Carpenter this past week, also.
Get-well wishes to: Lora Webb, Lucy Parker, Tom and Marie Hill, Norris and Bobbye Harrison, Vicky Hawker's parents and Joe Payne.
Closing Thought: Jacob: Why was the teacher wearing sunglasses to school?"
Another student::Why?"
Jacob: She had bright students!"
