Who says that there’s nothing to do in a small town? If anyone followed me around last weekend they would change their minds.
Last Friday evening started off with attending the Women’s Conference at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Building. Susan Hinton invited me, so I sat at her table, all decorated with a Mexican theme, a piñata and souvenirs from Mexico. My little guest was me great-great niece, Kiana Driver. Susan’s mother, Frances Frazier also sat at this table. Each of us were given a big Mexican hats, a sombrero. After a delicious supper, we went to the craft room. In there we made a cross symbol on a big slab of wood and tied it with colorful ribbon and beads.
Then we listened to an inspirational speaker. It was a long evening, but each of us felt renewed.
The next morning, Saturday, I attended a church committee meeting at the Methodist Church, my church. This group planned for another meeting, I attended the Storytelling Event at the county complex, and I took Kiana and another great nephew, Eli Humphrey. Those who missed this storytelling event really missed something! It was Smithville’s Storytelling tenth anniversary and honored one of the founders, Dot Tittsworth. There were about ten of us who shared a story. My story was about Pinocchio, and I used my Pinocchio doll to tell the story. Lots of cake was our treat.
Meanwhile, Spencer Iverlett took his son, Neal, and his grandchildren, Briley and Brennan, to Gatlinburg for the weekend. They enjoyed swimming, dining out and shopping. Spencer is a good grandpa.
Have you noticed the new extension at Hardee’s? Our small town is eventually growing, and we look forward to the new Subway coming in.
Get wishes to; Lora Webb, Sarah Brown, Joe Payne, Tom Hill, Betty Bailiff, and Reba Prince.
Belated Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, grandmothers and generic aunts (like me).
I was pleasantly surprised when my step-daughter, Susan, flew in from West Virginia
to visit me, sit with me at church and then take me out to lunch. We had a good buffet lunch at Center Hill Restaurant on Sunday. My sister, Charlotte, was elated to hear that Princess Kate and William named their new little daughter, Charlotte. I tried to convince her that the baby was not named after her!!!!
Also congratulations to Neal Bryant for receiving a B.S in Business at MTSU also last weekend. Betty has a family who have been studying and quite a success in their careers.
Get Well Wishes to Tom Hill, Linda and Hooper Judkins, Lora Webb, Sara Brown, Joe Payne, Kathy Bryant, and little Ashton Campbell who injured his collar bone while playing soccer last weekend. He was treated at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital but is now back home.
My thanks to all those who sent me birthday cards and good wishes on Facebook. Yes,
I celebrated with ice cream and cake with my family. (Another year younger!!!!!)
Have you noticed the extension and new face lift at Hardee's? Also what is going outside the Tenneco building? Looks like a gigantic swimming pool being dug. Just wondering!!!!
Almost time for a school year to end and the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
Have you seen the book, THE JETT AGE, Flying with Tommy Jett? It is written by our own Smithvillian, Ralph Vaughn. Webb's Drug Store may have them as the men were present for an autograph signing there recently.
