Yep, it's turkey time again. Just one more week before all those old birds will be in somebody's oven. The high calorie season has begun. The First Methodists will be having their Thanksgiving dinner this Wednesday evening (today). Getting an early start! And play practice has also begun there for their Christmas drama.
Belated anniversary wishes to Janis (Dearman) and Judd Murphy on their 50th wedding anniversary. Janis and Judd are local Smithvillians and I've known them all my life. Judd has a good sense of humor. (So has his brother Jewel in Georgia.)
Also best wishes to Betty Turner and Jack Loeb who tied the knot at First Methodist last Friday in a small family gathering. Betty and Jack are both artists so they have a mutual ground.
Get Well Wishes to Jerry Williams, Jeanette Dodson, Dorothy Puckett, Betty Bailiff and Rev. Bill Lassiter, who lives in Guild.
For those going on the New York trip, here's some good traveling advice. My husband and I have trotted all around the world and he taught me to travel light. It seems most people take too much. So the carry on bag is a real important bag for the New York trip. Spending the first night on the road involves packing your nightwear, cosmetics, medicine, and extra underwear and socks. You will need this same gear coming back with a night on the road, probably in Virginia. Some people might throw in a top for a change. Good walking shoes are essential. There's nothing worse than sore feet. I would advise against wearing new shoes before they're broken in.
Whoa! Do you realize that it's just two weeks away? Don't forget a warm hat and gloves.
Maybe we can wave at everyone from the Today Show at Rockfeller Center.
Kim B. and I store-hopped at all the Christmas Open Houses last Friday evening. The weather was brisk which added to the holiday spirit.
Who needed supper with all the delicious refreshments and especially, the hot cider and hot chocolate? Don't know who won any door prizes.
I certainly didn't. We even talked to ol' Santa at the White Possum. He looked familiar. Didn't have his bowtie on, though. Ho! Ho! Thanks to all the merchants.
I have a local concern and it is a health concern. Another mother also voiced this concern when she has observed mothers who are smoking when they drop their children off at school. Now what is that smoke doing to their little lungs?
It seems that they could wait to light up when the children are out of the car. Anybody agree??? And also they come in with a smoke odor on their clothes for us to breathe.
Enough said!
I saw Joanna Evins Carnahan and her sister, Mary, at Neo's at lunch time Sunday. It's good to see these gals, visit their ol' hometown. She stated that she lives nearby in Nashville now. I used to chauffeur, their father, Congressman Joe Evins, to meetings in this area several decades ago.Met alot of important people with them. He thought that since my dad was an excellent driver that I had inherited this trait.
Seen on a T-shirt: "A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future and accepts you although you're slightly crazy." Amen.
