The Amen Corner
Early spring time brings blossoms

Don't try to figure out Mother Nature!  Everyone knows that dogwood trees bloom at Easter time, right? Not this year.  They are in full bloom, the pink and white ones. Michelle Driver told the story of the Dogwood Legend to the children at First Methodist last Sunday morning.
She brought twigs for each child to carry home.
This is also big allergy time for some people. But it is a beautiful earth with all the trees and flowers blooming. It also means it's time for yard mowing.
Get-well wishes to Tyler Young who is recovering from a bad auto accident in Warren County; Wanda Poss and Juanita Loring Gilbert in Crossville who had a bad fall at her home.
Sympathy to the family of Kathleen Kunzleman in Dickson. Her husband, Rev. Charles Kunzelman, was pastor at First Methodist many years ago. She was a real sweet lady.
The Senior Angels of First Methodist took a mystery trip last Monday, March 19 and their surprise destination was the Webb House. Lorie Webb met them and served them a delicious lunch. The best part was inviting Freda Cantrell, Mary Snow, Gladys Simpson, Wylie McConoughey, Lucille Golinitz and Vera Bobbitt to join them. Also early birthday wishes to Mary Snow who will celebrate a birthday this coming weekend.
Congratulations to my little great nephew, Eli Humphrey, who was awarded Student of the Month in Mrs. Lee's Pre-K room this month.
Eli is an active five-years-old and enjoys his class at Smithville Elementary.
Last weekend Betty Jo Forkner, Gianna Owens and I participated in a Lay Speaking School at Monterey. It was an exhausting weekend but we were blessed with good class leaders. I was an overnight guest of some old friends up there so that was my treat for the weekend. I also got to visit with another friend, Evelyn Wakefield, in Monterey.
Do you all realize that Tommy Webb, another longtime friend, is a walking history book? If you have a history question, just visit him at the local library (across from the post office.) He has an excellent memory.
We need to give him an eternity pill so we can keep him around.
Read in a recent issue of the AARP magazine that the median age of Tennesseans is 38. The median age of Americans is 37. And the median age of residents in Florida is 40.7. I would expect the Floridian age would have been higher. Now what is your conclusion on this information? No charge for this information.
Get ready for Holy Week. It is also vacation time for our school students next week. Amen.
