DeKalb County students are enjoying this week of doing whatever.
Some are taking trips and others are doing fun activities. Some churches are having Holy week services this week and everyone is looking forward to celebrating Easter next Sunday.
I attended an Easter egg hunt for Methodist children and their guests at the home of Peggy and Glen Hendrixson last Saturday. It was ironic but a little gray bunny hopped around their pool to the delight of the children. Was that providential? Thanks to the Hendrixsons for their hospitality.
After attending the egg hunt, my little great nephew, Taylon Driver, and I visited the Webb House to honor Mary Snow on her 89th birthday.
Mary Beth (daughter) and Butch were greeting the guests. After visiting with Mary, a longtime friend, we were treated with ice cream, cake and punch. The decorations at the Webb House were colorful and pretty.
Taylon and I also visited with Margie Smith, a cousin and resident there, afterwards.
Get-well wishes to Cheryl Owens, the director at the Smithville Headstart; Center;my cousin Mary Elizabeth Medlen Cox of Panama City, who fell and fractured her ankle in her home; another friend in Gainesboro who is scheduled for surgery this week; and my pastor, Dr. John Carpenter, who had some health problems last week. The church's secretary, Becky, is a hero for being there in the office to assist him that day. Our prayers are with all these people and many others on the puny list.
Have you noticed how popular the color yellow is around town? I'm not talking about fashion but automobiles. I have been observing the many yellow vehicles, cars and trucks around here. It must be the yellow season which is a color I like. Just take notice!
Hope everyone is recycling these days. My first experience with recycling was at Martha's Vineyard about 10 years ago. It was such an organized process there. Then later Crossville had all their individual bins for colored glass, cardboard, plastic bottles, etc. Folks, if we don't recycle, our garbage is going to meet us when we open our front doors.
Don't say I didn't warn you!
Put on your Easter bonnet and observe the day this Sunday. Remember the purpose of Easter. The Easter eggs do have a religious history.
Spring is my favorite season but you know, I missed our snows this year. No school, an indoor time to catch up on our projects and if real cold, it kills our bugs and insects. Look out summertime, here they (the bugs) come! Amen.
