Thank goodness for the rain

My little great great nephew Robert Driver celebrated his first birthday on Saturday, July 14 at the home of his great grandparents Charlotte and Laird Barnard. Present were his parents Sandy and Derek Driver, Kiana and Taylon, Robin and Kristie Driver, Donnie Driver, Eli Humphrey and his favorite great, great Aunt Shirley.
Then, I encountered Louise Frazier in the Review parking lot one day. She reminded me she turned 95 on July 2. Seems that 31 of her family had gone to Cookeville to celebrate her birthday at a fancy restaurant when the power went off in that area of town, so they had to adjourn to another restaurant with power. I asked her secret of longevity and she just smiled. Could being a school teacher be one her longevity secrets? Hope so. She's a grand lady and I wish you many, more birthdays, Louise.
Another lady celebrating a birthday last weekend was one of my long-time friends Sherry Bush. Several of her friends gathered at the White Possum for dinner. She was honored with Rawlin and his staff giving her an energetic "Happy Birthday" greeting which surprised her. Sherry and I also hope that extra years are given for their school teaching careers.
Speaking of age, the class of 1954 will hold its 58th reunion on Sept. 15 at the Methodist CFC building and have lunch. Letters will soon follow to their members. Why lunchtime? You don't have to drive after dark (at this age).
I received sympathy on the death of my kitty cat recently from Frankie Hagan. She had a cat story she told me which I'll share later.
Bro. Mark and Beth Pafford, Max, Ben, Laura and Robin have returned from a vacation at St. Simon's Island. She had a grandmother there who died recently and who had written a children's book at age 90.  The book, “Who I would like to be”, was shared by Beth when she presented the children's message at First Methodist last Sunday. They enjoyed the beach and fireworks from the pier while there.
I attended the dedication of the library at Bright Hill Methodist Church Sunday afternoon in memory of Jeanette Cripps Dodson. Several of her
family members were present.
Rebecca Hill, bride-elect of Brian Hollander, was honored at a bridal tea, last Sunday afternoon at the Methodist CFC building. I've known Rebecca since she was a child. She was in the Wesley Choir when they visited our churches. The wedding is next weekend.
Sympathy goes to Kathy Carpenter on the death of her father Eugene Gunter of Joelton.
Continued get-well wishes to Eddie Sutton, Tommy Reynolds, John Loeb and Juanita Casey.
Several have inquired about my moving deal. My furniture is in my new home but I try to bring two boxes over every day, empty and refill the next day. Maybe I will get all moved in before winter.
Enjoy the rest of July since we have had some rain. Amen.
