Busy August is spent at football games, birthday celebrations, and getting acclimated in school.
Belated happy birthday to Chris Hill, a familiar face at Webb's Drug Store.
J.J. Poss, her mother Linda Moser, and sister, Lisa Barnes took Jake Odom to UT in Knoxville last Saturday. The line was long in getting him moved into his dorm so the ladies spent that evening in the Big Orange town and headed home on Sunday. Jake will be majoring in biology and pre-med.
Betty Bailiff celebrated her birthday last Sunday with her family. They treated her to lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Murfreesboro. Those helping her celebrate were Wendell, Sandy and Carly; Katherine and David from Knoxville; and Janis and Merle of Bellevue. Happy Birthday, good friend!
Rosie and Rev. Terry Little attended her 55th Grundy County High School reunion in Tracy City last Saturday. The luncheon was held at a restaurant, Trail View, outside Tracy City.
The Cookeville district of the Methodist Church held their annual summer outing at the CFC building last Saturday. The UMW women hosted the luncheon.Approximately 70 ministers and their families and guests attended. A love feast was held afterwards led by Rev. Jay Archer, District Superintendent.
Sympathy to the family of Linda Christian Stone. I remember Linda as being the secretary in Raymond Adcock's office for many years.
Get-well wishes to Martha Webb (leg surgery), Eddie Sutton and Dillard Colwell. It was good to have seen Sarah Brown at church last Sunday.
I'm passing on some good rules of the house.
"If you sleep on it, make it up. If you wear it, hang it up. If you drop it, pick it up. If you eat out of, wash it. If you turn it on, be sure and turn it off. If you open it, close it. If you move it, put it back. If you break it, repair it. If it rings, answer it. If it howls, feed it. If it cries, love it. Amen"
Headstart students will have their first day next Monday, August 27.
The Amen Corner
