Labor Day heralds the beginning of the fall season. There is a tradition that we put away our summer white clothes. Some say that this is a myth. A friend reminded me Sunday that she remembered my writing about this last year and to forgive her for wearing a white dress last Sunday. I told her that it was the day before Labor Day and she was still OK.
I plan to carry out this day by cleaning from top to bottom
My mother always had a family picnic outside on this day. I'm interested in how you spent your Labor Day weekend. E-mail me at salingram@dtccom.net and share how you spent yours.
Sympathy to the family of Juanita Neal Casey. She was a longtime friend of my family's. We used to visit Doc and Pauline Vanhooser, Delma, Doreta and Juanita would sometimes be there visiting. I attended the funeral and heard Rev. Bratten Tucker tell of her faith which was her focus.
Also sympathy fo the family of Dillard and Sue Colwell. I didn't know them but knew his sister, Martha Moore.
One advantage of television is watching activities around the world in your own living room without the hassle of traveling to these events. I'm speaking of the Olympics several weeks ago and then the Republican Convention held last week in Tampa. I called a friend in Tampa when the Hurricane Isaac had been predicted to hit that area. She assured me that the city had "gone all out" preparing for this USA event and would not cancel it. Then when Issac didn't hit, we decided that God may have been a Republican and let the show go on. Now it's time for the Democratic Convention coming up this week in Charlotte, North Carolina. Yes, we enjoy TV and be informed of all these activities from our easy chair.
Happy birthday in September to Stuart Brown, Suzanna Mitchell, Elene Hayes, W.J. Poss, Bill Little, Wendy Absher (my niece), Derrick Colwell, Nate Sherwood, Peggy Hendrixson, Max Pafford, Dorothy Puckett, Bill Luton, Marcey Little, Jim Driver and Kelly Vaughn. Thought for the day: "My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me." Henry Ford
Amen to this thought.
