There was an empty seat on the third pew from the right side at First Methodist last Sunday but the Burger family filled that pew with their presence in memory of their father, Cecil Burger. He was to be admired for his extensive community service as mayor and alderman of the city. I renewed my friendship with David who is now a professor at Seigakurn University at Ageo, Japan and Jerita who resides in Massachusetts My sympathy to this family and also to the family of Maurice Braswell. Mr. Braswell was a local business man.
Continued get-well wishes to: Suzanne Prater, John Loeb, Sarah Brown, Eddie Sutton, Faye Iverlett and Brenda Tramel. Also a special get well to all those battling the flu.

The best muffins in town are made by Donna Hendrix, chief cook at the local Head Start Center. She shared her recipe with me. This recipe makes 24 muffins.
Ingredients: 1lb. self rising flour, 1 & 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup water, 1 & 3/4 cup mashed bananas, 1/2 cup shortening, mix and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
