Greetings from sunny Florida! It's not beach weather here but this was a friendship trip. (I should be back home when this is read.)
I was invited down to Florida by my Monterey friend, Owene, who spends the winter in Daytona. Her daughter Lynn, a college professor at UT Martin in Martin, and I flew in to Jacksonville on Southwest. Owene met us at the airport and drove us to Daytona. Our friendship extends over many decades so we did a lot of reminiscing. Our days here were spent at the flea market, dining at Aunt Catfish in Port Orange, the Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill and shopping. On Friday morning we drove a few miles to the St. John River which had an open view of the unmanned space ship, The Dragon, going up from Cape Canaveral. It was going to the International Space Station.
We had planned to visit my Jewish friend, Hannah, in West Palm Beach but she had fallen and not feeling well, so we cancelled that trip.
(To Be Continued Next Week)
Dr. Seuss' birthday was observed last week by the school children. I subbed at Smithville Elementary one day that the children wore crazy hats. On Wednesday, they wore wacky clothes. We discovered that he would have been 109. He died in 1991 at the age of 87 in California. He wrote about 48 books.
Get-well wishes and prayers to John Loeb and Susan Young, who is taking treatments. She is a kind lady at Middle TN Gas Company. Sympathy to the family of Shelby Tittsworth Gamble.
Happy Birthday in March (first half) to Shea Vaughn, Bob Morse, Irene Young, Regina Estes, Dolton Theriaque, Charlotte Barnard, Jeremy Judkins, Faye James, Dr. Scott Little, Thomas Webb, Lela Ambrose, Derek Driver, Melanie Judkins, and Jerry Williams.
Get ready to begin Daylight Savings Time. This coming Sunday morning, set your clocks forward on hour. The school children may moan and groan getting up an hour earlier so parents get them to bed an hour earlier.
“The Bible” miniseries began Sunday evening March 3 on the History channel. It is a 10 hour, five-week ministry which spans the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. It is narrated by Roma Downey who used to be on “Touched by an Angel.”
Income tax time is just around the corner. Hope you kept good records. Keep smiling through these days. Amen!
