Amazing how the weather affects our lives and activities. Everyone was leery of the stormy weather forecast last week. Some went Trick-or-Treating on Halloween night while most of us went the following evening. Two nights of Halloweening? I don’t recall having two Halloweens consecutively.
I appreciate the town businesses hosting the Halloween Downtown event Friday, especially the fire department and city hall.
It’s time to participate in Operation Christmas Child. Sue Pucket-Jernigan is the DeKalb County Chairman and is receiving the shoeboxes full of toys (not guns) from our county. This is a mission project for children overseas who get this shoebox as their only Christmas present. Call Sue for more information. The Methodist folk will be dedicating their shoeboxes during the worship service on Nov. 17.
Sympathy and prayers to the families of Amy Miller , granddaughter of Iva Dell Randolph; Christine Prichard, her husband, and mine were minister friends; Frank Buck’s brother in Lebanon; and Miranda Waggoner’s grandfather’s family.
Everyone, now and then I goof. In last week’s column I mentioned that Patsy and Glen Hendrixson went to Gatlinbug, which should have read Peggy and Glen. Patsy and Peggy are sisters and similar names get confused sometimes. I now people call me Charlotte sometimes, and she gets called Shirley. So, this sister confusion can happen. Please accept my apology, gals.
Next Tuesday is Veterans Day. My husband was a captain in the Army. He considered being a Veteran more important than director of LBJ&C and a minister.
