New Year's Day came in on a very cold note. I spent another week battling a sinus infection, which was a waste of my bonus time at home.
I hope most of you got to celebrate the new year. I received around 75 greeting cards, but due to my illness, I didn't get all of mine sent.
Many are on the flu and sick list this week. Get-well greetings to: J.J. Poss, who had shoulder surgery; Regina Cantrell, who fell and broke her leg, Betty Turner Loeb, my aunt and uncle Irene and Jewel Lockhart in Nashville, Jo Wright recuperating, Anthony Wright, Robin Driver, and little Kiera Driver with a respiratory infection.
Sympathy to the families of Dr. Scott Wheeler and Steve White.
Ethan Absher of Nashville visited his grandparents, Charlotte and Laird Barnard last week. He was treated to a dinner at Chili's in Cookeville one evening by his grandfather, Donnie Driver and Becky.
The first session of the Children's Etiquette Workshop will be Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Methodist Fellowship Building. Call Becky (597-4961) to enroll as enrollment is limited.
Teachers and students will head back to school next week after a two-week vacation.
I hope everyone had a big helping of black eye peas on New Year's Day for good luck. I gobbled mine down. Hope you also made some good New Year's resolutions.
Just be thankful that none of us were on that ship stuck in the ice in the Antartic. My coffee addict friend said she would jump ship or have a coffee temper tantrum when they ran out of coffee. Guess who?
Happy New Year again! Amen.
