Looks like a busy season is upon us. We survived Halloween and the Veteran's Day celebrations. Now Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
Kiana Driver, daughter of Sandy and Derek Driver, made her first solo debut at First Methodist last Sunday morning during the worship service. She sang "I'm Glad to be An American." She had learned this song for the Veteran’s Day program at Smithville Elementary School last week.
Visiting Jack and Betty Loeb recently were his nephew Paul and Betty Mueller from Waverly, Iowa. He also came to see his grandfather John Loeb. Paul grew up in Guatemalawith his missionary parents. They got to view the autumn beauty at Fall Creek Falls.
Laird Barnard has returned home after visiting his family in Oklahoma. The highlight of his trip was attending his college alumni, Oklahoma State, football game in Stillwater.
Billy and Dianne Hawkins and I attended the annual stockholders meeting at the Cracker Barrel headquarters in Lebanon on Nov. 13. Stephen Ashburn from Murfreesboro, my guest, also attended. And where did all of us eat lunch? At Cracker Barrel, of course!
The shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child were collected this weekend to be shipped to countries where this is the only gift that some children receive. Dr. John Carpenter at First Methodist prayed over those brought to the altar last Sunday. Sue Puckett-Jernigan is the county coordinator of this Samaritan Purse project.
Get-well wishes to Lewis Conklin, Walter Burton, Barbara Thompson, and my aunt Irene Lockhart of Nashville who had hip surgery last week.
Sympathy to Jack Loeb and his family in the recent death of his father John Loeb. A memorial service will be held this Wednesday at the Webb House, his last residence.
Remember to count your blessings and you will be surprised that this list is bigger than the negative list.
I have a Thanksgiving prayer from a lady here in the county which I will share next week. Be thankful. Amen.
