Ho! Ho! Ho! The Christmas Season made its official debut last weekend. It started with the Community Chorus comprised of children and adults singing on the courthouse steps on a cold Thursday evening under the directorship of Fay Fuqua. It was also the official lighting of the Christmas tree on the westside of the courthouse. Several public officials and Suzanne Williams spoke. Later Snowbird and Santa appeared at the Justin Potter Library.
Caney Fork Electric open house was celebrated on Friday with free cookbooks and delightful refreshments. It's always good to see Vickie King from the main office.
Breakfast with Santa and face painting took place at the Baptist Life Enrichment Center on Saturday morning. Then on Saturday afternoon the annual Christmas Parade composed of floats. Pretty pageant girls, the DHS marching band played, Boy Scout Troops, decorated cars, the fire engine and then Santa and his reindeer marched around the square. Lots of candy was thrown. On Sunday morning smashed candy was still seen on the pavement.
Glad that our parade was not canceled. I took two-year-old little great-great nephew, Robert Driver to see his first Christmas parade and he was enthralled by it all. He was impressed with it as seen in his eyes.
Happy birthday in mid-December to Tara Tolbert, Tony Thomas, Leslie Hendrixson, Cathy Frazier, Lori Adcock, Betty Turner Loeb, Sue Driver, Harold Tolbert, Janis Moorehead and Kristie Driver.

Stay tuned for info on the upcoming Children's Etiquette Workshop slated for January.
Closing thought: "Peace on earth will come to stay when we live Christmas every day."
