Getting ready for May

Mother Nature smiled on us Easter weekend with beautiful weather. Summer clothes were seen on many.
I vividly remember Easter as a child many years ago.We always had new Easter clothes and white shoes and a bonnet. Most women wore a hat.
Thanks to the VFW Auxiliary for sponsoring the Community Egg Hunt at Greenbrook Park Saturday. It was well attended by children and their parents and grandparents.
Little two-year-old Robert, my great-great nephew, enjoyed picking up the colorful plastic eggs and the popcorn and drinks.
 Holy Week services and lunch were observed at First Methodist last week. Thanks to the speakers for giving their time. They were Jim Judkins, Chief Randy Caplinger and Sheriff Patrick Ray. A love feast was held on Thursday evening.
My step granddaughter Amanda, her husband Seth Sherwood, and son Lucas visited me last Saturday. They had recently moved from West Virgina to Atlanta when she got trapped on the icy highway. She said she abandoned her car on the highway and walked in high heels to the nearest store like so many others did.
Ruth Dobbs was honored recently when her son, Clark Dobbs, treated her to a trip to Disney World.

A beauitful April is getting ready for a warm May with all its events - graduation, Mother’s Day, Primary Election and the Story Telling Festival.
Get-well wishes to Neal Iverlett from back surgery, Muriel Wallace, Joyce Spurlock, my aunt and uncle, Gene and Jabel Lochkart and Lucas Reeser.
Surprise visit from a former room-mate, Louise LaFever Phelps and her husband, Jack, from Nashville last week. Jack helped with the sound at the Jamboree for many years.
Ruth Dobbs was honored recently with a visit to Disneyworld given by her son Clarke Dobbs.
One of our civic duties is to vote. Election is May 6.
