If you're one of those parents or grandparents who pick up their children at school, the wait can be long if you get there early. Here are some tips: (1) I have done my nails, make a grocery list, take a magazine or do some extra paperwork. (2) I have a good friend, Amanda, who does her daily devotional at this time. She says it is a quiet time for her in the car.
If you have some other suggestions, send them to me. Sometimes, it is a long wait.
Congratulations to Jack Loeb who won a merit award at a recent Art Show at the Cannon County Art Center. Betty, his wife, also an artist, accompanied him. Robin Driver called his mother about three weeks ago and told her to reserve Sept. 14 on her calendar. It wasn't her birthday or anniversary so she was puzzled as to why on this date. So around 4 p.m. he picked her up and drove to Nashville.
First, they had dinner at Puckett's Restaurant, uptown. Then he drove them over to the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. "The dinner was fine but now what?" she said.
In they went, into the huge center with balconies all around.
Then Robin got her a program. "Oh, Johnny Mathis," she said in an exciting voice.
"Yes, he said, "as I knew you liked him." She was in awe as he came out on the stage and sang several songs accompanied by the NashvilleSymphony. I'm sure Robin got a great big hug as his mystery trip for his mother was a success. So that's my sister's big night out on the town and she deserved it.
