The Amen Corner
Mother Nature moved in and brought the cold

Made it through Halloween! The Halloween event downtown last Friday was a huge success! There were children everywhere in their costumes all over town. They were "trick and treating" in all of the businesses, courthouse, city hall and even the jail.

Don't know whose idea this was to promote this event but it was the best ever.

Since the kids were out of school, the afternoon hours were perfect rather than having them out in the dark. Even saw some parents dressed up with their children.

Then Mother Nature moved in during the weekend with cold weather. Brrrrr!

I sure enjoyed that extra hour of sleep Sunday morning. I even made it to Sunday school and church on time.

Speaking of church, an All Saints Day service was held last Sunday morning by Dr. Carpenter, assisted by the staff, memorializing those from the church and other relatives who have died this past year at First Methodist with a toll of the bell and candles were lit by their families. There were about 10 or 11 candles lit!

Rose Dillen has returned home after flying out to McKinney, Texas, to visit her niece, Gilda and Mike Hurst, in October. Mike is pastor at the Church of the Savior in Allen, Texas.

There are signs around town about spending 20 minutes reading to your children. I hope this includes reading Bible stories to them. Amen.
