Things to get hairy at city police department

No Shave November was started to raise cancer awareness and to help raise money for research and victims of the disease.

With November fast approaching, the annual “No Shave November” is just around the corner. The month-long razor- less event means participants do not shave for the entire month of November. The initiative was started a few years ago in an effort to raise cancer awareness and to raise money for cancer victims/patients.

Once again, the Smithville Police Department will be participating in this event. This year’s “No Shave November” will be in memory of the late Karen Jacobs and all proceeds will go to the Martha Melching Fund who is a DeKalb Middle School Guidance Counselor and recently diagnosed with breast cancer along with being 6 months pregnant.

If anyone would like to donate, please contact Smithville Police Department 615-597-8210.
