This is a sharp reply to an intrinsic writer, Carol Gunter, of one of last week’s newspaper columns regarding a time-honored and popular global horse-racing tradition.
The Kentucky Derby has been a sports’ staple in American since its inception on May 17, 1865 – 160 years ago. The popular bourbon drink, Mint Juleps, has been associated with the Derby since 1939 - 86 years ago! The same historical values are applicable to the various categories of women’s hats and attire, which became prominent during the early 20th century (1900).
On another note, today’s entertainers and singers Beyonce and Carrie Underwood are very popular singers, with Underwood’s rendition of “How Great Thou Art” being the top gospel song of the decade. My personal philosophy regarding the vulgarity of the above is to not watch the broadcast. It’s easy – turn off your television! For me, my television is never off.

THE BRADY BARK: My little Democratic canine has become a connoisseur of individually-wrapped peppermint candy. He paws the candy jar to let me know that he’s hungry. When presented, he unwraps the candy and crunches to high-heaven. Within a few minutes, the same process is repeated. Proof positive that he needs to be enrolled in a Canine College.
MANNERS FOR THE WEEK: If I hear this one more time, I’m gonna puke! If you don’t know someone’s name, don’t yell HEY!!!! Softly say MAM. This way, you won’t sound like a rude idiot!
