A local man and woman face charges of theft after they allegedly took 11 truck batteries from New Home Road.
Martin Riley, 46, and 26-year-old Jennifer Ann Ferrell were both charged with theft of property over $1,000 after an investigation by the sheriff’s department.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray,  a deputy took a theft report from a victim on New Home Road on Sept. 10. Eleven truck batteries were listed as stolen.
Authorities reportedly recovered nine of the batteries at a local recycling center where Ferrell and Riley had allegedly sold them. The stolen batteries were valued at $1,520.
Ferrell's bond was set at $5,000. Bond for Riley is $50,000, and he will appear in court on Oct. 3.
Dustin Lynn Lamb, 42, was charged with being a fugitive from justice, resisting arrest, and evading arrest on Sept. 11.
The sheriff said that an officer dispatched to a local factory to serve an arrest warrant on Lamb for failure to appear in Boone County, Illinois spotted Lamb, identified himself as a sheriff's deputy, and ordered Lamb to stop. The man reportedly fled on foot.
The deputy reportedly caught him Lamb and attempted to place him under arrest, but while on the ground he refused to cooperate as the deputy tried to cuff him. Lamb allegedly tried to push himself off the ground in order to stand up and get away.
Ray said a second deputy had to assist the arresting officer in cuffing Lamb.
According to the sheriff, officials in Illinois have been contacted and they plan to seek extradition.
Lamb’s bond was set at $53,000, and he will appear in court on Sept. 26.
James H. Ryan, 45, of  Jamestown was charged with filing a false police report and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage on Aug. 16.
Ray said Ryan was involved in a property damage accident and left the scene, parking the vehicle at a business on Highway 70 East. After allegedly ditching the vehicle, Ryan went to a motel.
When questioned, Ryan allegedly denied driving the vehicle. He reportedly told deputies that he was assaulted, and the vehicle was stolen.
According to the sheriff, officers viewed security video showing Ryan to be the driver of the automobile before and after the accident. No assault was seen on the video.
His bond was set at $3,000, and he will appear in court on Sept. 26.
Donny Wayne Agee, 40, was charged with domestic assault on Sept. 9.
Ray said a deputy sent to the hospital emergency room to investigate a domestic violence complaint spoke with a woman who had allegedly been assaulted by Agee, who is apparently her ex-boyfriend. The woman reportedly had knots on her head where Agee had allegedly hit her and pulled her hair, and visible injuries on both arms from the altercation.
Agee’s bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on Oct. 3.
Bruce Allen Morton, 44, was charged with a second offense of driving on a revoked license on Sept. 10. He was also cited for violation of the financial responsibility law.
Ray said a deputy saw Morton operating a motor vehicle on East Bryant Street. The officer reportedly had prior knowledge that Morton's drivers license were revoked, and made a traffic stop.
A check of Morton's license allegedly confirmed that it was revoked for DUI and driving while revoked. His bond was set at $2,500, and he will appear in court on Oct. 3.
Daniel Ryan Matheny, 22, of McMinnville was charged with a second offense of driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and escape on Sept. 11. He was also cited for  violation of the financial responsibility law, illegal parking, having the wrong address on his driver license, and for not wearing a seatbelt.
According to the sheriff, a deputy spotted a silver Pontiac parked in the middle of an intersection on Short Mountain Highway. The officer approached and allegedly found Matheny passed out inside the vehicle.
Matheny was reportedly awakened and found to have slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol on his person. He was allegedly unsteady on his feet and very disoriented as well.
Ray said Matheny submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks, and admitted to consuming alcohol. He reportedly agreed to submit to a blood test.
Authorities said, however, that after Matheny was handcuffed and placed in the patrol car he managed to free one of his hands, escaped from the vehicle, and tried to flee. Deputies had to forcibly take Matheny to the ground.
He allegedly continued to struggle with the officers, trying to push himself away and break free.
A check reportedly revealed that his license was revoked due to a DUI in Coffee County. His bonds total $13,000.
Ivan Duran Ramirez, 38, of McMinnville was charged with driving under the influence on Sept. 15. He was also cited for violation of the implied consent law.
The sheriff said a deputy saw a black SUV leaving its lane of travel on Vaughn Lane and made a traffic stop. The officer allegedly found Ramirez, who had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and bloodshot eyes, to be the driver.
He reportedly submitted to, but performed poorly on, all field sobriety tasks, and refused to submit to a blood alcohol test.
His bond was set at $1,500 and he will appear in court on Oct. 3.
