Thanksgiving Meals, Nov. 28

The DeKalb Emergency Services Association (DESA), in partnership with local businesses and volunteers, will again be preparing and delivering Thanksgiving Meals to the needy or underserved on Thursday, November 28.

“We feel that this is just another way our local emergency service providers and our supporters can serve our community. If you or a family member would like a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day, please call one of the numbers listed below to be added to our delivery list. We will need your address, phone number, and number of persons in your household. The meals are scheduled to be delivered between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon,” said Association President Blake Cantrell. DESA will accept names of persons requesting a meal through Friday, November 15. To get your name on the delivery list, call 615-597-7411 or 615-712-4286. Additionally, if you want to support this community project by donating food items or volunteering your time to prepare meals and/or make deliveries, you can contact the phone numbers above or make monetary donations at Wilson Bank & Trust in Smithville. Please let them know it is for the DeKalb County Emergency Services Thanksgiving Meal Delivery.

 

DeKalb Retired Teachers Meeting Dec. 5

Will be held December 5, 2019 at Northside Elementary school at 11:30 a.m. We invite all retired teachers and retired school personnel to join us for a good meal and entertainment.

 

Christmas Market, Dec.7

The 10th Annual Christmas Market, sponsored by the Smithville Review, will be held Saturday, Dece. 7, 2019 from 8am-2pm at the community complex auditorium. Shop from a room full of vendors offering hand-made items to direct sales companies. You are sure to find something special for everyone on your shopping list.

 

 

Regifting Event, Dec.7

The event is on Saturday, December 7, 2019, you can pre-register now thru December 3. The event is being held at the DeKalb Community Complex from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or until all gifts are gone. The children need to be age 5 to 12 years old. Christmas Drive-Thru, Dec. 7

Brush Creek Baptist Church, located at 26 School House Road in Brush Creek, will be presenting a Christmas Drive-Thru titled “Life of Christ” on Dec. 7-8 from 6pm-8pm. Donations are appreciated and will go to Hats of Love Ministery.

 

 

Stay, Strong, Stay Healthy, Oct. 28 –Dec. 23

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy aims to provide older adults age 40 and over with access to safe, structured and effective exercise program capable of building muscles and increasing bone density, thus decreasing frailty, osteoporosis and the risk of falls. UT Extension Agent April Martin will be the instructor for this 8 week course scheduled for Monday and Thursdays from 5:30 -^:30 p.m. at the UT Room at County Complex.
