A week of pageants at this year’s DeKalb County Fair kicked off Monday night with the Junior Fair Princess followed by the Fairest of the Fair competition.
In the first pageant of the night, Mary Elizabeth Murray was chosen from a field of 28 contestants and was crowned this year’s Junior Fairest of the Fair. She the 14-year-old daughter of Angel Brown of Smithville.
Taneah Brooke Cantrell, the 16-year-old daughter of Scott and Tammy Cantrell of Smithville was named first runner-up.
Second runner-up went to Madeleine Brummitt, the 15-year-old daughter of Chad and Vicky Brummitt of Algood.
Haley Marie Hale was chosen as third-runner-up. She is the 16-year-old daughter of Chad and Melissa Hale of Smithville. Hale was also chosen Miss Congeniality.
Darrian Turner, the 16-year-old daughter of Shane and Regina Turner of Smithville, was named fourth runner-up.
Attiah J'nay Hicks, the 14-year --old daughter of Rod and Brandy Hicks of Sparta, was choicen as Extreme Queen during the competition.
Juli Sue Garcia-Romo, the 15- year-old daughter of Tammy and Dygo of Brush Creek, was voted the People's Choice.
Hailey Nicole Glass, the 14-year-old daughter of Doyle Glass and Debbie Netherton of Alexandria, won Miss Photogenic.
Rounding out the top 10 were Liz Abigail Qualls, the 15-year-old daughter of Brad and Kim Trapp and Jason and Stormy Qualls of Smithville; Tyra Graham, the 14-year-old daughter of Kyle and Doris Graham of Smithville; Bethany Brooke Poss, the 15-year-old daughter of John and Lori Poss of Smithville; Kayla Jayne Belk, the 13- -year-old daughter of Chris Anne and Andrew Fults of Smithville; and Hannah Walker, the 14-year-old daughter of Scott and Misty Walker of Smithville.
In the final competition of the night Rebekah Grace Webb, the 18-year-old daughter of C.D. and Cindy Webb of Dowelltown, was crown the 2013 Fairest of the Fair on Monday night. Webb was also named Miss Photogenic. She will represent DeKalb County in January at the State Fair Pageant.
First runner-up went to 17-year-old Lauren Ashley Medlin of Smithville. She is the daughter of Greg and Teresa Medlin.
Eighteen-year-old Ashlee Michell Whitehead was named second runner-up. She is the daughter of Kenneth and Tina Whitehead of Smithville. She was also crown Extreme Queen during the competition.
Third runner-up went to Shauna Faith Taylor. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Ken and Cindy Taylor of Smithville. Taylor was also named Miss Congeniality.
Kaitlin Allie Emme, the 17-year-old daughter of Gordon and Jessica Rackly and Michael and Leslie Emme of Smithville, took fourth runner-up.
The People’s Choice award went to Christian Janette Atnip, the 18-year-old daughter of Veronica Atnip of Smithville.
