A week of pageants at this year’s DeKalb County Fair kicked off Monday night with the Junior Fair Princess followed by the Fairest of the Fair competition.In the first pageant of the night, Mary Elizabeth Murray was chosen from a field of 28 contestants and was crowned this year’s Junior Fairest of the Fair. She the 14-year-old daughter of Angel Brown of Smithville.Taneah Brooke Cantrell, the 16-year-old daughter of Scott and Tammy Cantrell of Smithville was named first runner-up.Second runner-up went to Madeleine Brummitt, the 15-year-old daughter of Chad and Vicky Brummitt of Algood.Haley Marie Hale was chosen as third-runner-up. She is the 16-year-old daughter of Chad and Melissa Hale of Smithville.
