Join the Edgar Evins State Park ranger for a night hike around the Wolf Creek inlet by the light of the first full moon of the year this Saturday at 7 p.m. Everyone should bundle up in layers for the hike and be sure to bring a flash light. The meeting place for the Wolf Moon Hike is at the Millennium Trailhead.
If hiking by the light of the full moon isn’t your thing, join the winter moring hike Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and learn some of the history and see some of the wildlife that the park has to offer. The winter morning hike is a moderate, 2.5 mile hike. The meeting place is also at the Millennium Trailhead.
There are approximately 11 miles of trails at Edgar Evins State Park from moderate to strenuous. Of the five trails the longest and most challenging is the 5.5 mile Merritt Ridge Trail which rises upon the ridges from an intersection along the 2.5 mile Jack Clayborn Millennium Trail Loop. By combining the two trails a hiker can enjoy approximately eight miles of diverse terrain. Both the Millennium Trail and the Merritt Ridge Trail share the same trail head.
