To God be the glory!

Great things He has done.

So loved He the world that He gave us His Son.

Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, and opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Let the people rejoice!

Come to the Father, through Jesus the Son;

Give Him the glory, great things He has done!

I’m sure we have all seen and know what WWJD means (What Would Jesus Do). It’s an easy question and if it isn’t, we know where to turn if we need to search for an answer. But what about beginning a new abbreviation? WWGGG … What Would Give God the Glory.

The Psalmist David knew about giving God the glory.

                I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and will glorify Your name forever – Psalm 86:12

We know the story of David vs. Goliath. But David didn’t glorify himself after the defeat of the Philistine, he gave God the glory.

You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts … This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands - (1 Samuel 17:45-46)

David didn’t claim any armed skills as a soldier. He was a shepherd, the youngest son of Jesse. Goliath was raised as a soldier, a giant, and a killer. Never in his wildest dreams or dark terrors would he have imagined being thrown down by a stone from the river. Nor did David take any credit for this feat. He had declared it in the name of God; he did something to glorify God. I believe we can all agree David did many things that didn’t give God the glory, but he did have a heart for God.

There are dark times in our life where we’re just taking one step at a time, and very slowly at that. It seems we can’t find the words to even pray. But God sees the depths of our soul and knows our heart. He sees the tears and feels the heartache. But dark times don’t last. And once that light pierces the darkness, we can let our light shine before men in such a way that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father who is in heaven. [Matthew 5:16]

Let us all be mindful in how we treat each other. Jesus said in John 13:34, ‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.’ So let us all stop and consider WWGGG … What Would Give God the Glory?
