Adelheid was born on March 20, in 1922, to parents Karl and Prohaska Sharf, in Vienna, Austria. A holocaust survivor, Adelheid was under live fire twice during World War II. She was among a handful of family members who survived the Nazi invasion. In 1950, she moved to the United States with her five year old son, Philo. During her time in America, she lived in New York, Michigan, Arizona, and Tennessee.
Adelheid was a terrific wife and a loving mother. She married Philo Nichols Jr. and the couple had four children together, including an unnamed daughter, who died in infancy.
She was an intelligent, caring woman who was deeply involved in nursing and caring for others for the majority of her life. She enjoyed writing poetry, painting, playing the zither, and rescuing animals. Her family and friends will always remember her as an angelic, sweet, loyal person.
There will be no memorial at this time.
The family would like to thank Woodbury Health and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful and attentive care they gave her in her remaining years of life. They would also like to thank Smith Family Funeral & Cremation Services for the compassion and thoughtful service they provided during this difficult time.
