Mrs. Alta Washer Fitts Payne, 90, of Alexandria, died Nov. 26 at University Medical Center, Lebanon.Mrs. Payne was born Jan. 19, 1921 on Walkers Creek, the daughter of the late Haley Taylor and Grover Washer. Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death: John T. Washer, James W. Washer, William L. Washer, Frances Hunt, Christine Bragg and Elizabeth Christian. She was married to Ruby G. Fitts on March 7, 1936 and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1967.
