Alton Brown Colwell, age 73 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning, July 29,2019 at his residence.
He was born October 13, 1945 to his parents, the late Dallas
and Myrtle Colwell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by
Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Honest and Jewel Bain and Grand-Parents Howard
and Mary Ellen Ursery.
He was the former pastor of The House of Prayer Church and
worked at Smithport Cabinet.
Alton is survived by his wife, Christine Colwell of
Smithville; children, Vickey Colwell, Brenda (Kenny) Poore, and Christie
Waycaster all of Smithville; special family friend, Valerie Tatrow Slager;
grandchildren, Adam and Jordan Arnold, Dillon Colwell, Jarad Henry, Casey and
Kyle Centers, Erica and Joel Kersjes, Tyler Ackerson, Randy, Katie, Lily and
Kayla Waycaster, and Austin Rackley; great-grandchildren, Adin and Shaylin Centers,
Ethan and Brooklyn Kersjes, Alana and Dallas Skimerhorn, and Audrey Ackerson;
brothers, Albert (Mary) Colwell of Smithville, Delbert (Elizabeth) Colwell of
Smithville, Roy (Debbie) Colwell of Murfreesboro; sisters, Charlie May Daniel,
Mary (Ronnie) Bates, Frances (Eddie) McGuire, Barbara (Keith) Huling, and Tina
Colwell all of Smithville and Teresa (Jerry) Pack of Livingston.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with
Bros. John Wilson and Phillip Luna officiating and burial followed in DeKalb
Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Dillon Colwell, Tyler
Ackerson, Randy Waycaster, Kyle Centers, Joel Kersjes, Jordan Arnold, and Jared
Henry.
Honorary Pallbearers were Adam Arnold, Dennis Arnold, Kenny Poore, Craig Henry and his friends at Smithport Cabinetry.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
