Aubrey McGuill Meece, age 80, of Dowelltown and a native of Old Hickory, passed away Saturday morning, May 9, 2020 at his residence. 

                                                               

He was born March 9, 1940 to his parents, the late Luke McGuill and Ella Beatrice Meece. 

 Aubrey was a 1957 graduate of Dupont High School and attended David Lipscomb College for 2 years.  He was a member of the Madison Church of Christ, served in the National Guard for 4 years, former member of the Tennessee Ski Club, was an engineer at Dupont in Old Hickory for about 40 years and worked at Smithville Food Lion for five years. 

 He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.  He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Meece of Dowelltown; two sons, Scotty (Christen) Meece of Portland and Mark Meece of Hendersonville; three step-daughters, Angela West of Carthage, Sharon Barnwell of Sparta and Mindy Ware of Sparta; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Meece of Old Hickory and Myrna Sisco Meece of Mt. Juliet; two nieces, one great-niece and on great-nephew.

 Due to the COVID-19, the Governor strongly encouraging that the public component of funerals be postponed and only attended by immediate family members, social distancing requirements and public health safety, A private Graveside Service was held Monday, May 11, 2020 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Michael Hale officiating.  

 Pallbearers included Mark Meece, Scotty Meece, David Cook, Andrew West, Justin West, and Koby Howard.

 DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
