Barbee C. Spencer, 94, of Smithville passed away March 31 at NHC HealthCare in Smithville. 
Funeral services were held April 2 from Indian Creek Baptist Church in Smithville with James Fesler and Michael Carpenter officiating.  Interment will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with nephews serving as pallbearers. 
Barbee was born September 11, 1916 in Smithville, daughter of the late Felix Elmer and Altie Page Close. 
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Willie Jewel Spencer; brothers, Ed Close and Hoyte Close; sisters, Brownie DE-Malia and Opal Cantrell. 
She is survived by daughter, Bobbie S. Erwin (Jimmy) of Smithville; two brothers, Otis Close (Margarette) of McMinnville and Paul Close of Smithville; four sisters, Drusie Myers of Mt. Juliet, Doris Estes (Jack) of Smithville, Jo Kania of Va. and Margie Patterson (A.W.) of Mt. Juliet; two grandchildren, Jane Parsley of Smithville and Alice Moseley (Aubrey) of Murfreesboro; and five great grandchildren, John Parsley, Rebecca Moore, Sarah Beth Parsley, Julie Wolfe and Rachel Peters. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Indian Creek Baptist Church.
