Funeral services for Bernice Neal Robinson, 88, of Alexandria will be held April 4 at Anderson’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held April 4 at Sango Cemetery in Clarksville, with burial following.
She passed away March 28 at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville after a short illness. Bernice had been residing with her grandson, Michael Moore, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. At the time of her death, she was visiting with her daughter, Peggy Moore-Breedlove.
Bernice was born November 23, 1925 in Brush Creek. Her parents were Ernest Newton Neal and Lillie Mae Lawrence. Bernice had one sister, Mattie Francis Neal Frye. She grew up in Alexandria and graduated from Watertown High School in 1943. As a teenager, she worked for Goodner's Dry goods Store in Alexandria. After high school graduation, she took courses in business while attending Draughons College in Nashville.
After a brief courtship, Bernice married Robert Stanton Robinson on May 1, 1946. The couple lived in Clarksville, where their daughter Peggy Jean Robinson was born. Bernice and Robert returned to Alexandria in 1949. Their son, Larry Robinson, was born in Lebanon. Bernice and Robert returned to Clarksville in 1956. Upon returning to Clarksville, Bernice worked for First Trust and Savings bank as a teller and became a founding member of Excell Baptist Church.
In 1973, Bernice and Robert returned to Alexandria to care for Bernice’s father, and built a home on the Neal farm. Bernice continued to work as a teller at DeKalb County Bank and Trust in addition to assisting Robert with farm work and building a new home. She was an active member of First Baptist, West Main and Upper Helton Baptist Church and spent her free time helping her extended family and friends in the Alexandria community.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Peggy Jean Robinson Moore-Breedlove (Floyd); grandson, Michael Moore (Cheri); great-grandchildren, Rachel Moore, Robert Stanton Moore, Juliana Moore; grandson James Moore (Lori); great-granddaughter, Lilli Moore; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Morrison Robinson; grandchildren, Wade Robinson (Niki); great-grandchildren, Adrian Robinson and Carsten Robinson; grandson, Jerry Robinson (Cynthia); great-grandsons, Diego and Rocky Robinson; step-great-grandchildren, Melanie and Mechelle Scott; granddaughter, Wendy Robinson; step-grandson, Jeff Breedlove (Lori); step-granddaughter, Teresa Watson (Johnny); step-great granddaughter; Brandi Watson Parker (Clayton); step great-great granddaughter, Bentlee Parker.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and sister; husband, Robert Stanton Robinson; son, Larry Neal Robinson; son-in-law, James P. (Pat) Moore.
Anderson Funeral Chapel, Alexandria, was in charge of arrangements.
