Betty Frances Davis, age 68, of Smithville passed away from this life, Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Bethesda Healthcare Center in Cookeville.

Betty was born April 14, 1950 to the late Virgil Carl and Dorothy Willene Ford Davis.  She graduated from DeKalb County High School in 1968.  She was a graduate of MTSU in 1972 with a B.S.  In 1991 she received her Master’s Degree in Education.  Betty taught at St. Jude School, a private Catholic school in Chattanooga for 25 years and Chattanooga School for Liberal Arts for 10 years.  She worked three years with the Department of Human Services.  Betty was a world traveler and an avid card player.  She was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Smithville.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Willene Davis, a brother William Edgar Davis and a nephew B.J. Davis.

She is survived by a brother, Carl Douglas Davis and wife Sandra of Smithville, nephews, Jacob Ray Davis and wife Dana of Dowelltown, Jared Tyler Davis and wife Kelli of Smithville, great nieces and nephew, Kendall, Kloe, Kimber and Rhett Davis.  Betty loved and cherished her family which was evident by her adventures with each of them.

Funeral service was held Sunday, June 3, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.  Bro. Joel Wood officiated and interment was in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Jacob Davis, Jared Davis, Johnny Pack, Jack Pelham, Joey Phillips, and Steve Ramsey.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Traveling Friends, Former Faculty Members and Bunco Babes.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
