Eighty-nine year old Betty May Vaughn Wilson of the New Home/Cross Roads community of Smithville passed away Thursday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Ms. Betty Wilson was a member of New Home Baptist Church for over 50 years and a homemaker. She wrote a column for the Smithville Review, “The New Home News” for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 2:30pm at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, 4-8pm & Sunday, 12noon until the service time at 2:30pm.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.D. Vaughn & C.W. Wilson. Son, Jerry Wayne Vaughn. Parents, William & Lilly White Cantrell. Stepfather, Roscoe Ervin. 2 brothers, Mac Ervin & W.B. Cantrell. Sister, Ruby Conway. Survivors include her son, Ralph & wife June Vaughn of Murfreesboro. 2 grandchildren, Randy & wife Natasha Vaughn of Alexandria & Cindy Vaughn of Smithville. 4 step grandchildren, John Eaton of Brentwood, Janna Smith of Nashville, Jennifer Skelton of Franklin & Mary Bennett of Hermitage. 2 great grandchildren, Drake & wife Amanda Vaughn of Alexandria & Ellie Vaughn of Alexandria. 11 step grandchildren. Sister, Jo Ann Pittman of Smithville & a sister-in-law, Rebecca Ervin. Several nieces, nephews & friends also survive.

Pallbearers include Randy and Drake Vaughn, Douglas and Hayden Ervin, Hunter and Spencer Stanfield, Brandon Rackley and Billy Tiner.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery fund in memory of Ms. Betty.
