Billy Petty, 87, of Smithville died Monday, October 3, 2016 at his residence.

He was a member of Pomeroy Chapel and a retired crane operator for Rogers Group.

The funeral was held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Pastor Bryan Jones officiated with burial to follow in the Petty Cemetery.

Petty was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Fanny Petty; siblings, Buck Petty and Era Poitevent, Earlene Bennett, Dillard Petty, Acie Petty, and Donnie Petty.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Winnie Petty of Smithville. Five children, Wayne and Sue Petty, Treva and Terry Turner, Randy Petty, Marlene Bly, and Rebecca Petty all of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Dana and Jacob Davis of Smithville, Tad and Terra Turner of Smithville, Tia and Kevin Young of Smithville, Lucas and Holly Bain of Alexandria, Mary and Justin Lohorn of Smithville, and Tabitha and Bobby Joe Anderson of Smithville. Eleven great grandchildren, Kendall and Kloe Davis of Smithville, MacKenley and Maggie Turner of Smithville, Kelbi and Tatum Young of Smithville, Katie and Cole Bain of Alexandria, Abel Lohorn of Smithville, Nikolas and Macy Anderson of Smithville. Two sisters, Ruth Thomason and Rose Knowles of Smithville. Special friends, Michael Tisdale and Mike Redmon of Smithville.

Pallbearers included; Tad Turner, Lucas Bain, Nikolas Anderson, Mackaenly Turner, Justin Lohorn, Jacob Davis, Kevin Young, and Bobby Anderson.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, was in charge of the arrangements.
